𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫: Alice Hoffman 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐞: Available Now
My first read from author Alice Hoffman, the Bookstore Sisters tackled an unconventional dynamic and I found myself relating to characters with ease. This was an excellent short story and Hoffman transported me to a time and place that left me longing for more.
Meet Violet. She is feisty, to-the-point, and brings her Aunt back home to help with the family bookstore. Meet Isabel. She hasn’t spoken to her sister in years and may not have it all figured out, but she does know she needs to return home. Her sister needs her help. Will this be the reunion their loved ones hope for? Or will the sisters let their differences come between them?
This story really hit me with the old adage, “never forget where you come from” and was a true pleasure to read. It gave me pause on many occasions, as my relationship with my own sister is strained at best, and I welcomed the moments of reflection and thought. I throughly enjoyed my trip to the marshes of Maine!
