“ Three cheers to Della Galton for an eloquent story of friendship and the love and support of family and friends. ” @dupuisshowreads
You should add Rainbows Over Puddleduck Farm by Della Galton to your February TBR list if you like delightful animals, engaging yet delightfully complex characters, and love-on-the-horizon romances!
Plot Summary
The story follows Phoebe’s journey as she opens her veterinarian practice at Puddleduck Farm in the New Forest. Once open, the business is busy, but soon it is demonstrated that someone has been illegally breeding loop-eared bunnies. They also uncover knowledge indicating the stream running through Puddleduck Farm has been polluted by an unknown source. With the help of her best friend Tori and Grandma Maggie, they set out to bring justice to the breeder and discover the pollutant, with a side adventure featuring the possibility of love.
What I Liked
I enjoyed the characters. I’m a total Tori. There, I said it.
I can only say this because Galton takes the time to develop earnest characters to which readers can relate. I also enjoyed how the characters have to overcome challenges. This story is an excellent read for PTSD and therapy representation. As someone with experience with both, it is refreshing to see them represented in literature without a stigma attached to them.
The locations are beautiful! As with the characters, Galton uses her unique writing style to describe picturesque settings you cannot help but want to visit. The story setting is an excellent backdrop for adventure. Due to this, I hope to see a third novel in this series and will be locating the first to read it as well.
I was unaware this was part of a series, and I did not read the first book, “Coming Home to Puddleduck Farm,” however the book does not suffer because of this. The author does an excellent job filling in the character’s backgrounds for the reader, so it works well as a standalone.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the eARC!
