What a beautiful albeit final story for the Wyncote Wolves series by Cali Melle! Off-Ice Collision is for you if your cup of tea consists of a broken man, a heroine with a hero complex, supportive families, finding a new path in life, and childhood friends.

A painfully beautiful story, this book sees Melle delve deeper into her characters. Readers are given a more intimate view of family life, dreams and aspirations, along with relationships and situations the characters face. As with all books in this series, it can be read as a standalone.

Meet Vaughn. After enduring a career-ending injury in college, unable to move on to the National Hockey League, he became angry, bitter, and broken. To escape the darkness surrounding him, his parents send Vaughn to their vacation home on the lake where he is to work and run the family store. He finds himself alive but not living, until he is reacquainted with his next-door neighbours from childhood.

Meet London. She is a lover of broken things who makes frustrating choices at times, but you cannot help but love her. In the same way, she cannot help but want to heal her childhood friend’s woes. Will our heroine learn that before she can help to heal him, he needs to heal himself?

Melle accurately portrays the healing journey for athletes so beautifully that it rings true for anyone facing large changes to their everyday. Taking a new path is not always exciting and sometimes you cannot see the forest through the trees. This book is heavier in context than the others but does have the Melle sweetness readers have come to know and love. While there is much less hockey played in this story, it’s evenly traded for chemistry and spicy scenes that had me blushing.

As stated previously, this can be read as a standalone but I can assure you that you’ll want to read each Wyncote Wolves story Melle has to offer. This book was a beautiful end to a terrific series. My heart is sad for this series to be over but I look forward to what’s coming next.

Thank you to Literally Yours PR for an eARC in exchange for my honest review!
