Book Review: No Cooldown for Love by Aliyah Burke

This is one of my favourite reads of the summer and will (no doubt in my mind) end up on my Top Reads of 2023 list. No Cooldown For Love by Aliyah Burke is exactly what you need to add to your TBR and for myself, I cannot wait to reread a physical copy. It belongs in my home library. It’s especially for readers who love a read with tropes of strangers-to-lovers, forced proximity, and one bed!

Meet Mitchell. He’s an ex-professional basketball player. He saves a woman during a snowstorm. He spots her car almost falling off of a cliff, upside-down. Meet Hope. She is saved by a man after experiencing a terrible car accident in a snowstorm. Thanks to the weather, the pair end up at a lodge and unfortunately, there is only one room left AND it only has one bed. What will they do with the roads closed and no where else to go?

I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. I finished it in one day and gave it a five-star rating less than halfway through. This is my first read from Burke and I’m looking forward to reading her other works. I found this to be a relatable read in the sense that my husband and I once spent time in the parking lot of a gas station in Revelstoke, British Columbia.

A major snowstorm had rolled in, the roads were closed, there were no available beds for the night, and we had to sleep in our car. It snowed so much that at one point, we couldn’t open our doors. Our experience also had a major car accident involved! A truck jackknifed and was sliding down the hill backwards towards us and three other cars infant of us. The three cars sat still, but thankfully my husband has excellent driving skills and got us around the mayhem just in time to watch everyone else slide over the side of the cliff. It was an experience we will never forget.
