This story is an exciting adventure, featuring main characters who get to know each other and begin to heal. Beach Please by Melanie Summers will leave you wanting to pack your bags and book the next flight to Paradise Bay! This story is an uplifting and heartwarming beach read that should be on your TBR. It’s especially perfect for those who gravitate towards a grumpy-sunshine, fake relationship story.
Meet Aidan Clarke. He’s a fishing boat captain who has experienced some betrayal, and a relationship is not what he is looking for. Meet Lola Hunter. Same goes for her, but she isn’t a boat captain and instead owns a surf shop. But her ex disappeared with all of her money and she needs to compete in a treasure hunt to save her store. To do this, she needs a boat.
Aidan has a boat, so when they agree to help each other, it’s with one rule: Lola will pretend to be his girlfriend to get his family off his back but they are friends only, no relationship is allowed. Will they be able to win the treasure hunt and abide by their one rule?
This book tugged at my heart strings, made me laugh, and had me rooting for a happy ending. The main characters were a terrific combination and complimented each other well. Summers wrote realistic characters, so much so that I kept peeking over my Kobo to see if I could spot the duo.
I really loved how Summers wrote a beach read with a deeper meaning. With this book, she highlighted that people need to see how others live in orderto open our minds, and our hearts. I look forward to picking up a physical copy of this book and pulling a reread before the summer is over!
Thank you to NetGalley, Xpresso Book Tours, and Melanie Summers for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
